Have booked to go to Hamburg in October and am busy researching things to do. Thought I cant got to Hamburg and not pay a visit to Reeperbahn. However, some sights that I have looked at claim women are not allowed down there?
I was just wondering why this is?? Have been to Amsterdam many times and have never had any bad experiences being in the RLD with my husband.

The 60 m of the Herbertstrasse?

Strictly seen it%26#39;s a public road. The signs %26quot;no women allowed%26quot; have been put up in the 70s on request of the prostitutes. And it%26#39;s them you%26#39;ll get there problems with. Probably you could be charged for %26quot;disturbing public peace%26quot;.
Look - the British are used to queue orderly. And we Germans are used to obey signs. Just accept this.

Just read the sources %26quot;... they didn%26#39;t want to feel like %26#39;in a zoo%26#39;%26quot;. So - no zoo visitors please, only potential customers.
And replace *problems* in my answer above by *real trouble*. These ladies are no choristers (as we say in German).

I completely agree with abalada. There is one way though to go to Herbertstrasse without being attacked by one of the prostitutes.
There is a famous German travestite, Olivia Jones, who is offering Kiez tours and as (s)he is well known at the Kiez, (s)he is allowed to take the tourists to Herbertstrasse. But I%26#39;m afraid these tours are in German only and she is not always taking them there.
