i went on the bahn.de website just getting a little confused on tickets and don%26#39;t know which would be the right one for us

my husband and i will be staying in salzburg for 3 days then go to munich on april 5 (sat) spend 2 days there then probably go to neuswenschtein castle then fly back home from munich

which ticket should we get from salzburg. i tried to book on the website and it costs E35 for the 2 of us one way on RB ( i think its the weekend ticket). is the bavaria ticket possible to use from salzburg to munich and is it really E25 for the two of us?

thanks in advance.

Hallo,

you can take the bavaria-Ticket from Munich to Salzburg. I have no idea about the other way round, sorry.

The Bavaria-Ticket is valid for one day, from monday to friday in the time of 9oclock to 3oclock the next morning. On saturdays an Sunday they are valid from 0oclock to 3oclock.

It costs you 27 online, or 29 at the station. The maxmimum number of people travelling on this ticket is 5.

Have a nice holiday,

Sandburg

You can use the Bavaria Ticket also for Salzburg to Munich. The price is now EUR 27,00 if bought at ticket machines or online and EUR 29,00 if you go to the counter. The Bavaria Ticket is good for 2-5 persons traveling together.

The DB timetable won%26#39;t show the Bavaria Ticket as a price option, as this is strictly seen an offer of the state Bavaria and not by DB.

Bavaria Ticket covers also the S-Bahn, U-Bahn (metro), trams and buses in Munich.

Also a good deal for the trip to Hohenschwangau (for Neuschwanstein castle). Also here it covers not only the trains but also the buses from Fssen to Hohenschwangau.

d%26gt; o you know how many hours it takes to go to munich from salzburg using the bavaria ticket?

DB timetable

http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

From: Munich

To: Salzburg

and select as means of transport %26quot;only local transport%26quot; if you like to use the Bavaria Ticket.

%26gt; is it longer than using IC train?

Yes. Only regional trains are allowed. Will cost you 20-30 minutes on this route (mainly due more frequent stops).

%26gt; also where can we buy the bavaria ticket?

DB ticket machines at railway stations

MVV ticket machines at U-Bahn and tram stops (you have to validate (stamp) it when bought there before you use it)

DB counters (will add EUR 2,00)

online (site only available in German)

%26gt; is it available in salzburg?

Yes. Salzburg Hbf has DB ticket machines and a DB counter.

Last June the DB Ticket Counter at Salzburg was closed both times that we visited the station. Someone on another board said that it was permanently closed? The DB ticket machine is right next to the counter.

Regards, Gary
