Cannstatter Volksfest - Different Tents

Hi All

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the different beer tents are like e.g. are some louder than others, are some more traditional etc.

Thanks!

The larger tents seat 5000, and the smaller several thousand. I would select a tent depending on the performers, I find some entertainment much more enjoyable than others. For instance, I don%26#39;t care for Mexican music at a beer festival, and in general I prefer more popular music. When I went last fall with my 2 year old grandson after 4PM on a Thursday, they were quite full, and even before that they were way too noisy for him. I would visit the tents websites not too far in advance of the festival and check their entertainment they will be offering. This year the Volksfest is 26Sept to 12Oct, and websites include www.cannstatter-volksfest.de , www.wasen.info , wwww.stuttgart-tourist.de .

Other things being equal, I would select a tent based on their beer. Frstenberg first, then Dinkelacker, then to me little difference. The Almhttendorf also has a small tent with entertainment, and also an outdoor area there where music is performed.

Shortly before the festival opens the tourist office should have brochure about the festival, and larger booklets which will have more information about what%26#39;s there and the performers.

Thanks Marco

Do particular tents have tend to have similar sorts of entertainment throughout the festival? If so do you know what sorts apply to what tents?

The reason I ask is that quite a large group of us are planning on attending on the weekend of 4/5th October. I am assuming we should reserve a space in a tent quite far in advance? So presumably before listings go up?

I%26#39;ve never been later than in the early evening, but I would imagine the entertainment keeps getting better throughout the day, some of it around lunch time isn%26#39;t that good, but as the tents fill up the entertainment seems to improve. I like the entertainment in the Frstenberg tent at any time. I believe it is the Wasen website that allows you to listen to some of the past beer tents%26#39; entertainment when you click on the individual tents websites. You could also contact them by e-mail with questions about their entertainment.

Thanks Marco.

I%26#39;m struggling to find the area you mentioned in the wasen website. However this is probably more to do with my rudimentary German than it not being there! I%26#39;m not being blind that there isn%26#39;t an english version? Ditto most of the tents%26#39; websites....

They%26#39;ve changed the websites!!!! Almost all information is in German except the tourist office%26#39;s website. The beer tents are called Festzelte, unfortunately now if you go to them there isn%26#39;t any music on the website, probably because it is too early, and it also appears it is too early to see their entertainment also for this Fall. Nearer festival time when you clicked on the tents, music would come on without doing anything.

You can also check the Spring beer festival for information as it is almost identical with the Fall%26#39;s. I believe all the tent websites should have information for this and can be accessed from the Fall beer festival website, and also from www.stuttgarter-fruehlingsfest.de . For instance, you can check the bands playing at Grandl%26#39;s tent in Spring, they should also probably be there in Fall. Again, everything will be in German, but you should understand the music styles. Unfortunately, again, no actual music, but that might change if they properly update the website.

You could also contact the tents directly by e-mail through their websites. Tell them the type of music you%26#39;re interested in, and let them tell you what they will be offering. You should be able to do this in English, but this is not guaranteed.
