1 day layover; which spa to visit

Hello, my husband and I will be traveling through Frankfurt in mid-April and we would like visit one of the best spas during our 1 day layover. I have been to Baden-Baden before but am not sure which spa would be best that is close to Frankfurt (Titus Therme)??

Also, what is the best way to get to the spa? Rent a car or take the train?

Note, we are staying at the airport Sheraton hotel but would be open to staying in or near the spa town if it is recommended.

Thank you for you help:)

Bad Homburg is a famous spa town just north of Frankfurt.

Bad Homburg has also some excellent hotels

Airport to Bad Homburg is 43 minutes by S-Bahn. Single ticket is EUR 3,60. As between the airport and Bad Homburg there is Frankfurt itself, car won%26#39;t be a good idea.

I would stay in Bad Homburg. Much nicer and relaxing location than to stay at this huge and busy airport.

I 2nd the idea about staying at Bad Homburg. Much, much nicer than the airport area. The town has got a beautiful park, nice pedestrian zone, a castle you can visit (private rooms of the last German emperor%26#39;s wife, looks like she%26#39;d just stepped outside), great restaurants and spas.

Excellent, thanks for the great advise.

One more question, what about heading to Wiesbaden? Is the Kaiser-Friedrich Therme spa as easy to reach via train/subway?

Thanks,

by train + bus. Travel time from the airport approx. 1 hour. Single ticket is again EUR 3,60.

The main difference is that Bad Homburg is still an important spa town, while Wiesbaden is in first place state capital of Hesse and a medium sized city. Albeit with some spa heritage.

By the way, just because you mentioned it in the original post: Titus Therme have been closed for about a year now. They were undergoing renovation works and were schedulded to open last fall. But for some reason they still haven%26#39;t managed to reopen. I%26#39;m mentioning this because there is a Marriott Courtyard just next to the Titus Therme... for future reference.

Wiesbaden is a city whilst Bad Homburg is a nice little town. Wiesbaden is great, pretty but a busy city. Bad Homburg - even though it%26#39;s a busy town - is still more relaxed and might just cater better to your overall recreation aim.
