Eurail Pass and German trains

Hi, I am considering traveling to Paris from Frankfurt by train.

I%26#39;d like to ask whether there are any kinds of German trains--esp. on international routes--on which Eurail passholders can travel only if they make a reservation and pay supplements, like for the TGV in France. If so, would the Eurail Pass entitle you to fare reductions? Would such discounts be available for sales online as well as in person?

Also, are there many trains in Germany that require reservations but not the payment of a supplement?

Thanks!

For this alone you don%26#39;t need an Eurail Pass. Specials start from EUR 39,00 (incl. reservation).

From: Paris Est

To: Frankfurt

ICE trains from Paris Est to Frankfurt require seat reservation but no supplement. If bought in Germany such a reservation is EUR 4,00. No idea what they charge in Paris.

The only domestic day time trains in Germany requiring a supplement (incl. reservation) for a rail pass holder are the few %26quot;ICE Sprinter%26quot; trains. These are pairs of ICEs running on weekdays in the morning and evening between business centers with fewer stops than normal ICE trains. They run outside the normal 1 or 2 hourly ICEs and can be thus easily avoided.

Night trains require a supplement (incl. reservation) depending the type of accommodation you want to travel in.

Together a few dozen trains per day. The other nearly 40.000 trains per day in Germany do not require compulsory reservation nor a supplement for rail pass holders.
