Rent car in Frankfurt drop in Paris take train back

Dear Travelers, Has anyone rented in Frankfurt and left car in Paris then took the bullet train back for a flight out of Frankfurt. Is there a large drop off charge from Germany to France? Eva

Drop off charges in another country are very expensive, avoid them if at all possible. If you need a car in both countries, get one in Germany and drop it off there, and take the train to a city in France and rent another one, dropping it off in France. I don%26#39;t know about France, but there are usually no dropoff charges on rentals in Germany even if you return it to another city.

Well, last summer I was able to rent a drop-off belgian car here at Luxembourg airport and drove it to Brussels airport, obviously without a drop-off charge. I was happy and so was Europcar.

We did that kind of one-way rental just the other way around in 2001. It was like 75 or even more just for the one-way fee. Why don%26#39;t you list the names of places you%26#39;d want to see in between FRA and PAR (and there are more than enough, I%26#39;m fully aware of that) so that some of us could help you with some advices of how to save some money on that trip?

I%26#39;ve heard figures of several hundred dollars quoted in the past for international drop-off .

We once picked up a hire-car at Treviso airport with French plates. It rather threw me as I would have preferred Italian plates so as not to advertise that we were foreigners on holiday (we could have driven our car from Spain to advertise that!).

We drove in Italy, Austria and Slovenia but dropped off back in Treviso. We could also have taken it into Croatia as we had a letter for Slovenian and Croatian customs. No extra charge for that.

I wanted to rent in Amsterdam and drop off in Berlin. I was quoted a $850 (yes Eight Hundred and Fifty dollars) drop off charge...which is more than the cost of my 22 day rental. Yikes!

I decided to catch trains to Antwerp and Luxemburg and then start my rental in Aachen instead so there is no drop off charge within Germany!

Worst case scenario for the rental company is that somebody - they have to pay for this - has to drive the car back to the Netherlands and has to return by train or plane.
