I have pictures, and we use to call it Witches Tower
but it does have a tower and some sort of wind flag
(made of wood?)
What do you call this place, and is it still part of
heidelburg, or another town, as the river may be
a borderline.
Thanks everyone for help answering this.
My name is Mike Kelly and I was stationed at

You find many castles and towers with flags in Germany .
There are also a lot of such towers , in German = Hexenturm . One of it in Heidelberg
Therefore it is difficult to say which one you mean .
Give in %26quot;Hexenturm%26quot; in google ( http://images.google.de ) to find your witches tower

Thank you very much for your reply, but
The Hexenturm in Heidelberg is in fact
a %26quot;witches tower%26quot; in actual name, but
not the place I was seeking. When you are
on the Heidelberg Castle porch/Deck looking
towards the river, You can only see this tower
with the wooden wind flag with binoculars or
if you have really good eyes (I dont).
When you are inside this building Im speaking of
you can stand on this wall like structure, and look
down about 15 feet. When you are standing in the center
of this wall, and you look forward and out, you see
a amphitheater that can hold hundreds of people
and what looks like 2 pill boxes, where if you had
machine guns, you could mow everyone down.
Because its been over 33 years sence Ive been there,
I dont remember how we got to this place, it had to
be by private car, and was high up on top of the
mountain across from the Castle.
I have pictures I took, and can upload them to
my livevideo.com area. Just do a search for
ctguy1955 in channels.
Thanks for trying to help.

Looking at one of my maps there is a 360 degree vista point north of Heidelberg called Weisser Stein Turm (White Stone Tower). As I have never been to it I don%26#39;t know if it fits your description or not, but I think it is probably your best candidate.

Der Turm auf dem Wei?en Stein picture is not
where I was.
I did, today post pictures on my %26quot;livevideo.com%26quot;
under Heidelberg in my photo section if you
do a search for CTGUY1955 in channels.
I had one photo of me on top of tower, and you
can see the wood Wind Direction finder on top.
I circled where on the mountain you can see the
tower from the castle.
I should go on google earth and try to find a look
down picture of it.
Thanks for your time and help, I hope the pictures
I sent will help you to understand what I am
looking for.

I found it using Google Earth.
They have some really nice pictures too.
I cant tell from the GE photo, but it may have
been much lower on the hill then I originally
thought.
49 degrees 25%26#39; 10.71 N
8 degrees 42%26#39; 13.47 E
one name has Thingstatte Heidelberg
for the amphitheater
and the name: Aussichtsturm Beim Stephanskloster
for the Tower with the wind indicator on top.
Thank you so much for all your help
I appreciate it very much.
