My family is visiting/passing through Germany in June. Since my boys are car fanatics, a trip to the Famous Nurburgring is a must. My question - we will be passing through the area a few days after the big RockAmRing event and wonder if track/museum, etc. will still be closed? Our schedule is so tight that we can%26#39;t back track to drive the ring and i know that both my boys will be terribly disapointed.
Any , thought or ??? is much appreciated.

I can%26#39;t help you with your Nurburgring question, but the whole family would enjoy a visit to Stuttgart and especially the Mercedes Benz Museum. Stuttgart is after all where the car was invented, and this museum displays over 120 years of automotive history in the form of 160 vehicles including Mercedes through the years, racing cars, and cars driven or used by famous people such as the Popemobile. Your boys would also probably like the racing simulators. Unfortunately, they keep postponing the opening of the new Porsche Museum, this time to Autumn, so there are only about 20 cars on display there which would appeal most to Porsche or racing fans. www.stuttgart-tourist.de

The schedule for the 2008 opening of the Nurburgring will not be available until late February.

PeterinKent - I%26#39;m thinking that you are right about not having time to see the famous/infamous %26quot;Ring%26quot;. However, they are getting the chance to attend LeMans. Just wish they would get a chance to drive the ring. They can%26#39;t have everything.
MarcoPolo- I%26#39;ve been wondering about Stuttgart? Too bad about the musuem - maybe it will be open by the we time visit. Unfortunatly, the Porsche factory is closed tight to visitors unless one buys a new car. What%26#39;s really unfortunate is that my husband races Porsche%26#39;s - rally races. We%26#39;ve been a Porsche and BMW family for years. We will keep our fingers crossed that the Porsche Museum opens by june.
