Any info re flights to Nuremburg from Surrey, thanks!

Having made the decision to try the Nuremberg fair this Christmas I have just found out that the only airport we can fly directly from is Stanstead. This would be inpractical for us. The agent suggested flying to Munich and taking the train which is a 2 hour journey.Has anyone tried this route and can anyone give any better suggestions? Many thanks

Don%26#39;t fly via Munich as the airport is at the end of a branch line. If I need to get to Nuremburg I usually fly in to Frankfurt and either catch a connecting flight or take the regular ICE train direct from the airport station to Nuremburg.

However it wold be much cheaper to take the train from Munich as it is all in Bavaria and therefore you could use a Laender ticket.

Thanks for that, any idea how much the return train ticket is and how long is the journey? Do the trains run regularly? Cheers!

Air Berlin flies directly from Stanstead to Nrnberg. I would check their website out.

From Munich to Nuremberg you can use the Bavaria Ticket. EUR 27,00 for 2-5 persons. This is a mini group day ticket covering all regional trains in Bavaria plus nearly all other local public transport. E.g. the buses from Munich airport to Freising and the U-Bahn (metro), trams and buses in Nuremberg. This ticket is valid

Mo-Fr from 9am till 3am next day

Sa,So from midnight till 3am next day

Select at the DB timetable as means of transport %26quot;only local transport%26quot; if you like to use the Bavaria Ticket.

This is for Munich Hbf to Nuremberg Hbf when using the ICE highspeed trains (which travel up to 300 kph).

Hbf = Hauptbahnhof = main railway station

From Munich Airport station you need however approx. 45 minutes to reach Munich Hbf in first place.
