Location advice for car-hire & hotel for night in Munich

I%26#39;m trying to find a hotel for our last night in Munich - somewhere with easy Munich airport connections for a Sunday mid-morning departure (July 6) - near a car-hire drop off point, for our luggage - somewhere interesting and romantic for our last evening in Munich.

We%26#39;ll have picked the car up a week before - advice needed on somewhere convenient to pick-up and drive out of the city to Riederau on Lake Ammersee (not the airport, as we%26#39;ll have a week at Riederau before the car-hire)

Does that make sense - advice appreciated

Let%26#39;s see if I got that one right: You will go from MUC to Riederau NOT by car. A week later, you want to pick up a car and return by car to Riederau, and later on return by car to a hotel near the airport? Correct?

For the car rental, check if one of the rental companies has an agnecy in Fuestenfeldbruck. It is fairly close to the Ammersee; you would avoid having to return to Munich. Otherwise, AVIS and the other major rental companies have pick-up stations near the Munich main Station (Muenchen Hbf.)

As for a hotel near the airport,I like the Hotel Kastanienhof in Erding. It is about 15 minutes by car from the aiport; it%26#39;s also right across from the Erding S-Bahn station, a good way to go into the city sans car. I would not consider the hotel %26quot;romantic%26quot;, though; just convenient.

Yes, you%26#39;ve almost understood - we are going to return to Munich for a day%26#39;s visit and then to pick up a car for a week to explore Bavaria. We%26#39;d like to return it, and spend our last day and one night in Munich - not necessarily near the airport - but in a good spot to keep the airport trip simple. Thanks for your advice - I wondered too if Nymphenburg might be a good area both for car hire and drop off and last night in /near Munich? Do shops still close pretty early on a Saturday afternoon - or has that changed since we were last in Germany - a few years ago. Thanks again

I have found www.yescarhire.com very good for all our rental cars in Europe. They use national alamo etc, but are generally much cheaper and are all inclusive.

Stores are now mostly open on Saturday.

Can%26#39;t be of much help about car rental/(hire?)and hotels in Nymphenburg. Am more familiar with Schwabing area, which - incidentally - is closer to the airport; in fact, it%26#39;s pretty much a straight shot from the Leopold Strasse or Ungerer Strasse to the A-9 autobahn which takes you toward the airport, clearly marked.

In some earlier posting people have favorably commented on the Gasthaus (hotel?) Englischer. Dont%26#39; know what it%26#39;s like now. The location would be good, close to the Muechner Freiheit (square) and Ungerer Strasse, which leads to the A-9.
