Traveling to Munich over the Easter Holiday. We wanted to see Neuschwanstein and Linderhof. I see that Gray Lines offers a trip to both for $68 or so a piece. I have traveled on trains in Europe in the past and do not have a problem using them. But Linderhof requires a bus excursion and I read it requires a few changes (not straight forward). If you went to Oberammergau or Oberau by train, would it be easier to catch a bus from there to Linderhof? If so, I may consider doing these trips on seperate days. Another question would be if I decided to do the Gray Line trip, is there a need to pre-book it in advance? Does it sell out this time of year? I was hoping to make final day preparations after I had a chance to view the weather report.
Any help would be appreciated

Go to www.bahn.de/international/view/en/index.shtml
This is the english version of the DB website. Enter %26quot;Munich%26quot; for departure and %26quot;Schloss Linderhof%26quot; for arrival, date and time you wish to leave Munich and it will display a list of trips. Click on %26quot;Show details%26quot; and it will list all the connection changes and where they occur. If you click on the underlined transportation modes (like BUS 9109 or RB61) it will display all the individual stops and times.
If you go this route, be very careful on your timing. It could be very easy to miss the late afternoon bus connection from Linderhof to the train station.

I suddenly recalled that there was a similar request last month. The thread for that may help you. It is at tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g187309-i118-k1703

Thanks for the link to the transportation website. I did some searches and found going to Oberammergau is the best way. Bus 9622 only takes 30 minutes from there to Linderhof and you stay on the same bus.
Thanks,

Thanks-- BTW, if you have time while in Oberammergau, it is worth a short stroll-- lots of beautiful painted buildings and shopping. The restaurant %26quot;Wolf%26quot; in the center of town also has great meals.
