traveling to Milan from Stuttgart

We need a place to stop for one night traveling from Stuttgart to Lerici, which is about 3 hrs south of Milan. Any ideas?

It%26#39;s hard to give advice when your method of travel isn%26#39;t known, and whether you want to stop and see some interesting things where you overnight or just want to get as fast as possible to Lerici. This question probably is best asked in the Italy forum, or Switzerland forum as it would make little sense to overnight in Germany with most of the journey still ahead of you. The Lake Como area north of Milan is nice.
