Travel from Berlin to Warsaw

Train, bus or airplane? What is more recommended and enjoyable way to travel between the 2 cities. We are 2 seniors in relatively good condition but we would appreciate comfort as well as inexpensive way.

Thanks for your goodwill.

Take the Berlin-Warsaw express. We did that last fall, and one of the most pleasant trips we have taken.

We had 1st class tickets- very comfortable and roomy with a table in front of our seats, newspapers provided and snacks %26amp; meals for sale.

Great views of the Polish country side- which you can%26#39;t get on a plane.

The 6 houre trip went by very fast.

Enjoy!

I recently flew from Berlin Tegel to Warsaw with LOT Polish Airlines. I wanted an extra day in Berlin so I flew in the evening. It only took 1hr20mins, of course this is the expensive option but then it depends on how much time you have, if time wasn%26#39;t a major issue for me then I would have just caught the train.

Getting from the airport was easy, a taxi was only 30PLN to where I was staying (near Warsaw Central station). There are some excellent tips on getting taxis from the airport in the Warsaw forum. I went straight outside to the official taxi rank, handed the driver the address and agreed on a price in advance. No problems.

I%26#39;ve done both and would suggest the train, because it%26#39;s a pleasant ride and much cheaper. My evening flight from Warsaw was on a tiny plane and not very comfortable. By the time you get to the airport and wait for your flight and then go into the city you don%26#39;t save much time. There is a limited number of tickets for each Berlin-Warszawa-Express train for 19 euros and some for 29 euros each way. The normal price is 39 euros. But you%26#39;ll have to buy them at least three days in advance to get any discount (the sooner the better). All tickets include a reserved seat, but often you%26#39;ll have to kick somebody out of your seat.

Trains from Berlin Hauptbahnhof leave at 6:29 am, 12:29 am and 4:29 pm and take 6 hours and six minutes to reach Warszawa Centralna. You can also board at Ostbahnhof about 15 minutes later if you%26#39;re staying in the east. There is little difference between first and second class. Each compartment has six seats and there is one carriage (Grossraumwagen) without compartments and two seats on each side and a tray table (convenient for reading). A stop in Poznan going one way would be worth it, but you%26#39;ll have to get separate tickets for each leg of the journey. The new Sheraton hotel is just a couple blocks from the Poznan train station and a 15-minute walk to the Old Town. In Warsaw the Marriott is right next to the central station and has great weekend rates (89-99 euros for a double room, incl excellent buffet breakfast). Of course there are plenty of other good hotels in both cities.
