First Time visit to Berlin

Hi, we are a group of 8 women visiting Berlin for the first time in November - we%26#39;re planning ahead. We saw some good recommendations for Mercure Hotel and REsidenz Checkpoint Charlie.

We will be doing some sightseeing, shopping ans looking for some nice restaurants and bars (ages range from 35 - 70 so nothing too wild).

I%26#39;d appreciate if someone could let me know if this is a a good location for us?

Yes, it is a very good area.

I am staying at this Hotel next week from the 13th till 16th Feb. Will let you know soon.

Can%26#39;t comment on the hotel itself but the area is fine.

Seven of us (age range 35- 55, male and female)stayed in that hotel last weekend, we had booked it through Venere.com. Location good, felt very safe, close to Stadmitte U Bahn station (less than 5 minute walk, dragging cases) Very close to Checkpoint Charlie (make sure you read the history of the Berlin wall on the street hoardings there). Rooms were very good and spacious, staff helpful and friendly. Didn%26#39;t have their breakfast as it cost 18, so we had breakfast at a local cafe,can%26#39;t remember the name, but when you come out of the hotel, walk to your left and take the first turn right - the cafe is on the left hand side of the street - 5 for a latte and roll with ham and cheese. We found some nice restaurants within 5/10 mins walk of the hotel, average cost 30 per head - including loads of drink! There was a very nice one(Le Brassiere or something like that) about 50 yards to the left as you exit the hotel. Enjoy your trip there, a wonderful city.Can%26#39;t tell you anything about the shopping - we hadn%26#39;t time to do any, as it was such an interesting city. You can get a hop on/hop off bus tour for 15, which is interesting, but if you were all able to do a walking tour (3.5 hours and FREE(but give the guide a tip) with www.BrewersBerlinTours.com - that would be far more interesting (we did both tours and all agreed the walking tour was by far the better
