Munich to Prague train times

Hi, we are traveling in Europe in July with our two children and need to get from Munich to Prague. Train looks like the best option. We will be staying in Prien on the day of our departure and will drop off our car at the main Munich train station (our rental company will not let us take the car to Prague). We think the 8:44 train is too early and the 16:44 gets into Prague too late. So we are looking at the 12:44 which has one change at Schwandorf ?? There is only 10 minutes between arriving and departing though. Is this ok or could there be a problem?? We will have quite a few bags etc. Your advise is very welcome.

%26gt; There is only 10 minutes between arriving and departing though.

Schwandorf is a small station. 10 min are about 8 min more than you actually need, and not %26quot;only%26quot; 10 min.

Thank you, 10 minutes does sound a little long by all accounts!

We have decided to catch the 8:44 so we can spend the afternoon in Prague

There are 3 direct daily trains from Bavaria to Prague.

Now you have to consider the Bavarian-Franconian mental state.

There are 3 4-hourly train connections from Munich to Prague (08:44 12:44 16:44). And the same from Nuremberg to Prague.

The compromise is as such:

From Munich there are 2 direct connections and once they have to change in Schwandorf (into the train from Nuremberg to Prague)

From Nuremberg there is the *better* midday connection and twice they have to change in Schwandorf (into the train from Munich to Prague).

But you can be ensured that anybody on such a train to Prague who has to change in Schwandorf can make it to the other direct train to Prague.
