Hotels Narrowed Down...

We will be in Munich from Sept 7-9. We want a hotel close to the Hauptbahnhof (we will be returning a car upon entering the city and also taking the train to the airport when we leave). We would also like to be in walking distance of sights, restaurants, etc. From my research, I have found a few hotels. Anyone have a strong preference?

I%26#39;ve heard good reports about Flemmings but don%26#39;t ever stay that close to the station so can%26#39;t tell from experience.

If it%26#39;s in budget, you won%26#39;t go wrong however I always advise that it%26#39;s not necessary to stay so close to the station, 2 stops on the U or S (3mins) and you are in Marienplatz. IMO the Aldstadt area around Marienplatz is far superior to the location of the hotels you are choosing between here.

It%26#39;s easy to walk from these hotels to Marienplatz (15 mins) but the area is really not so nice and the hotels all lack Bavarian character IMO.

If I had your budget for 4* , I%26#39;d be looking elsewhere.

Of course it all depends on your budget, what were you going to pay with these near station?

The best resource is this forum, clik on Hotels and Acommodations, you%26#39;ll pull up a list of hotels in Review order. They all have maps, you want something in the central ring not too far from Marienplatz IMO

I like Bayererischer but it gets terribly mixed reviews here, less money Torbrau is a very good 3*, a liitle out but better position that the station. You can get off at Isator if you don%26#39;t want the walk, still a good position.

There are lots of hotels in Altstadt

Great...thanks for the info. We are hoping to pay less than $200/night if that helps at all for the Aldstadt recommendations.

Torbrau may be in budget.

A plain hotel, well in budget was recommened earlier, first answer here, Blauer Bock. Position is A1 IMO I stay thee regular but it%26#39;s quite basic.

I second the Blauer Bock (Blue Deer) We stayed there in December and it is close to everything. It is basic, but nice.
