Hi
I am planning to visit Berlin for the first time next March.
We are thinking to stay in Goethe 87 hotel. Is it in a good location to visit the main sighs in Berlin?
How can we reach the Hotel from Schonefeld airport by public transport?
Thanks for your help

Yes, very good location, plenty of restaurants and bars in the neighborhood, shopping as well. S-Bahn station Bahnhof Zoo just a block away with easy access to all the main sights.
From Sch?nefeld airport to Berlin Zoo check www.bahn.de
from: Berlin Sch?nefeld
to: Berlin Zoo
Journey time is 35mins and some trains are direct, some require 1 change.

The hotel is very close to the Zoo station, and there are many restaurants/pubs around it, but it is not so close to most major sites, as these are located in %26quot;City East%26quot;, around Unter den Linden, Hackescher Markt and Gendarmenmarkt.
Still, it is a very good hotel, and Berlin has an excellent public transit system, so you can get to the East in very little time.

Thanks Andreas,Thanks Lylou
First I have planned to stay in Mitte closer to the main historic sighs, but after read some good reviews about Charlottenburg area and hotel Goethe 87 I have decided to change!
The public transport is easy and secure to use even at night?

The sights are not on your door step as already mentioned by lylou and Andreas_US_GER but the area is still very central with the Zoo station as well as the S-Bahn station Savignyplatz in walking distance. From there you get easily around in Central Berlin whatever time of the day. I used to live around the corner from the hotel and I never felt insecure, not even at night. The area is actually not cheap to live in.
Around the Zoo station you%26#39;ll find the odd charactars (e.g. homeless) but that%26#39;s similiar to bigger train stations around the world. Anyway, they never even spoke to me when I walked home in the middle of the night.
Around Knesebeckstr., Grolmannstr., Savignyplatz you%26#39;ll find heaps of nice bars and restaurants.

Many thanks for your reply BerlinGal.
It is much more easy to planning my visit to Berlin with the advices from who lives in this...I am sure...fantastic city!
I have found an Easter promotion at SwissHotel Berlin.Do you think it would be better option than Goethe 87?
|||
I can%26#39;t say much to the hotels itself, I%26#39;ve only seen them from the outside. The Goethe 87 is on a fairly side street while the Swissotel is on the corner of the Ku%26#39;Damm. The Goethe 87 is small while the Swissotel is a big hotel, it really depends what you are looking for. Both are fairly close to each other therefore there is no difference in the area.

Thanks BerlinGal for your reply.
I like more small Hotel than the big ones,so if both are in the same area probably I will chose the Goethe 87.
Danke
