Berlin neighborhoods

Hi everyone,

I am going to Berlin in early March and wanted to know if anyone can help me out with deciding where to stay.

I have been there only once before and I remember likiung the old Jewish neighborhood and also liked Friedrich Strasse.

In other words, I am looking for a hip place but on the West side.

I think that by the Jewish neighbourhood, you mean the area around Oranienburger Strasse, which is in the Mitte district in the East; and most of Friedrichstrasse (the %26quot;hip parts%26quot;) are in the Mitte district in the East as well.

Mitte is a good area to stay at, especially the areas around Hackescher Markt.

Other good %26quot;hip%26quot; areas in the East are Prenzlauer Berg (especially around the Eberswalder Strasse train station and the Kollwitzplatz) and Friedrichshain around the Simon-Dach-Strasse.

However, you%26#39;ve asked about the West. Some hip areas in the West are Kreuzberg around Bergmannstrasse; Schoeneberg around Akazienstrasse; Charlottenburg around Sacignyplatz.

Berlin is a very dynamic city. A place that was %26quot;in%26quot; several years ago might be %26quot;passe%26quot;, while some places are very fashionable now and might have been unheard of when you came to the city several years ago. The best thing to do is look for a place that is close to a U Bahn station, which would enable you to reach whatever destination you%26#39;d want.

West Berlin is not as nice as the East. Especially Prenzlauer Berg with all its caf��s, fleamarkets (on sunday in Mauerpark), restaurants and all kind of cultural events.

Lots of people do rent their private apartments. It is a nice way to be part of the city.

Not low budget but real nice are brilliant apartments berlin.

But there are lots of other people renting out nice and comfortable flats.

A nice place in Sch?neberg is also the area around Winterfeldplatz and Goltzstr., around the corner of Akazienstr.
