My boyfriend and i are going to be in Cologne in April for a night and half day the next day before heading off for the romantic road tour. I would like to know what are the main sights to see and if i am putting way too much on our plates!!
We will arrive around 5pm to check in a hotel
- good hotel recommendations?
We were planning walking around the old town and seeing the cathedral at night then going to dinner and maybe a bar
-again suggestions for a good dinner and fun bar (we are in our mid-twenties/early thirties)
Then in the morning we want to do the cathedral tour, see the roman ruins, and maybe the chocolate musuem
Thoughts please- i know very little about the area so need help!
ps-does anyone know where the Europe Car rental (not at the train station) is?

Hi
I visited Cologne for a day and, although I can%26#39;t help with Hotels or rental cars, I managed to visit the Dom, the Chocolate Museum, the Christmas markets, the Eau de Cologne House and the modern Schildergasse shopping area all within a few hours. Using the Dom as a starting point I found the Chocolate museum wasn%26#39;t nearly as far away as my map suggested; more like a 10-15 minute walk - I walked there through the Old Town and back along the riverside which, as long as you have better weather than I did, is a nice walk. When you visit the Dom, make sure you climb all 509 steps for a fantastic panoramic view of Cologne.
Hopefully other forum posters will be able to help with the rest of your query.
Hope you have a great time
Deb

There are 7 Europcar downtown pick up locations besides the train station. Please do as I did and check with europcar.com or europcar.de
