Frankfurt Airport - Books, Toiletries & Umbrella

I am planning a trip to Germany this year and will probably fly into Frankfurt am Main. I hope to go light with only a small carry-on duffel bag. I would like to buy a few items after I arrive and may be staying in a very small town. Is it likely that I can find the following items in the Frankfurt Airport?

English Paperbacks

Toiletries

An Umbrella

On the off-chance, is it likely that I can find the same items in the Dsseldorf Airport?

Thank you,

Gary

2 x yes

Toiletries and an Umbrella will be less anywhere outside of the airport(s).

%26gt; may be staying in a very small town

Small towns are notorious to have a least a Schlecker drug store where you%26#39;ll get toiletries and an umbrella. And if this is the last thing they have (primary school: closed rectory: closed bakery: closed pub: closed - but still a Schlecker store).

Toiletries and Umbrellas of course are charged premium prices at airports and train stations. Since you%26#39;ll be leaving the airport anyway why don%26#39;t you buy them at a grocery store/supermarket or drug store?

Check with real.de, rewe.de, schlecker.de, rossmann.de, aldi.de, lidl.de, plus.de for locations near your hotel/hostel/B%26amp;B.

Click on %26quot;Filialen%26quot; and ideally type the ZIP code of your accommodation in the PLZ field.

I think you will have a problem with the English paperbacks. A town of any size will have the toiletries and umbrella..but bring a little bottle of shampoo and soap to get you thru at least the first day...3 oz of less of course.

Actually I%26#39;m even unsure about being able to get English books at FRA airport. So far the only way I know to get English books in Germany is Amazon...

English books are readily available at the Frankfurt airport. However, their selection won%26#39;t be very good, but they should have the latest best-selling novels. Other large bookstores elsewhere should have somewhat of a selection of English novels.

Personally, it would be much cheaper to make your purchases beforehand in the US, and these items shouldn%26#39;t take up much volume or weight in your carry on. Besides, the toiletries you want may not be available in Germany.

Thanks for everyone%26#39;s suggestions.

My toiletries needs are light so I may just carry what little I need, but will research Schecker%26#39;s and other drug stores once my plans are firm.

The umbrella came to mind as it always seems to be raining when I arrive in Germany. Being a semi-desert dweller, I hope and plan for rain, and am seldom disappointed in Germany. I assume from remarks here that I can find an umbrella in the airport if it is raining.

Paperback books were my main concern. I read a lot on vacation. I bought books last year in Mnchen, Rothenburg and Wrzburg. My reading tastes become more open by necessity on vacation. I was considering small towns on the Rhein or in the Schwarzwald this year, which might make books hard to find. I will look around the airport and may alter my itinerary.

Marco, is there a bookstore with a English paperback section in Stuttgart?

Regards, Gary

Witwer bookstore next to the glass cube art gallery on the Schlossplatz probably has the best selection in Stuttgart (ground floor up the stairs). If you are here on Saturday, Tom%26#39;s Books at the U-5 or U-6 stop in Sonnenberg on the east side of the street has only used English books, 1 euro each or one free book for every two you bring in. He%26#39;s only open from 10AM to 3PM on Saturdays, and he has tens of thousands of used English books.

Thanks again, Gary
