Berlin Welcome Card

Hi there!

Can anyone tell me if it worth buying the Berlin Welcome Card for 2 ou 3 days to visit the city? If so, the A an B zones are %26quot;enough%26quot; to visit the main attractions of Berlin or it is better to get the card that also covers the C zone?

I understood that the Berlin Welcome Card only gives discounts, not free entrance like some other cards I%26#39;ve already used (London Pass, Amsterdam Card, etc) and also that, in order to use it in public transportation in Berlin, we need to pay an extra depending on the type of card (48 or 72 hrs) choosed.

Can anyone please tell me if I%26#39;m correct ot not?

Thank you all!

Bye!

Berlin AB = Berlin

Berlin C = Potsdam, Oranienburg and other places around Berlin

%26gt; I understood that the Berlin Welcome Card only gives discounts

yes

%26gt; in order to use it in public transportation in Berlin, we need to pay an extra depending on the type of card

Not true.

The Welcome Cards, normal public transport day tickets and even single tickets cover all means of local public transport

- regional trains (RB, RE)

- S-Bahn

- U-Bahn (metro)

- trams

- buses

and a number of ferries

Depending on your itinerary the Berlin Welcome Card can pay alone for public transport.

e.g. if you use the 72 hours version like

0,5 + 1 + 1 + 0,5 days

Hi, abalada, I noticed you mentioned that the card covers trips on the RE and RB. Does that mean if I take the RE or RB to Dresden, although slower than the EC, it will be completely covered by the welcome card? Thanks,

No. RB and RE trains will only covered inside the area covered by the Welcome Card, thus either

Berlin AB (e.g. the RE AirportExpress from Sch?nefeld to the city centre)

Berlin ABC (e.g. RE or RB trains to Potsdam)

vbbonline.de/download/pdf/liniennetze/091207

in direction Dresden the last stations covered would be (with a Welcome Card for Berlin ABC): K?nigs-Wusterhausen, Raagsdorf, Ludwigsfelde

To use regional trains to Dresden makes only sense with a group of 4 persons or more. Otherwise the savings are small compared to the considerably longer travel time of the direct EC trains.
