2 days in Berlin

My boyfriend and I are spending 2 days in Berlin in May and are looking for some ideas of things to do / see / eat / drink!!

Have found the Insider Tours website and like the look of the 4-hour walking tour that seems to cover a wide variety of the sights.

Many thanks.

To start with a walking tour is a good idea.

4 hour walking tour can be a good start, remember to wear good shoes!

Hi there, here%26#39;s a link to a really good travel news guide which appeared in the Belfast Telegraph recently.

belfasttelegraph.co.uk/travel/travel-news/ar

It gives you a breakdown of how best to spend 48 hours in berlin - from checking in right through to %26#39;taking a view%26#39; to %26#39;taking a hike%26#39; to %26#39;lunch on the run%26#39; to %26#39;window shopping%26#39; and so on...........!! I%26#39;m heading to Berlin next week. Can%26#39;t wait.

I can highly recommend the Brewer%26#39;s all day Berlin tour, it went from 10:30 to 5:30pm (with breaks for lunch and coffee etc) and had heaps of history/info from a fantastic guide (my guide was Barnaby, but I%26#39;m sure they are all great). It cost 12Eur and it was a great way to cover most of the major sites in a short period of time.

Enjoy Berlin, it%26#39;s my new favourite European city!

As mentioned before a walking tour is a great way to get a good overview of Berlin. After that you can visit place which interested you most with a bit more time.

Another fun way to see the city is doing a city tour by bike, I haven%26#39;t got a link but you might find some information on the tourist information website www.btm.de. Or you could do a trabi safari, http://www.trabi-safari.de/

Do you know yet where you will be staying. As for recommendations for restaurants it would be good to know where you%26#39;ll be staying. I live in the Western part of the city and often go out there for a meal so I do not know that many restaurants in the Eastern part.

2 days is definitely on the short side for Berlin.

Better is a long weekend (3-4 days) for the start.

After 2 days many think they have seen Berlin more or less. After 4 days many realize that they have barely touched the surface.

Just back from Berlin last weekend. Strongly recommend the walking tour. We did the FREE walking tour provided by Brewers Berlin Tours (see WWW.BREWERSBERLINTOURS.COM)- it was excellent and gives a great insight into the recent history of the city. It%26#39;s a daily tour, starting at 1PM, lasting 3.5 hours, at a very comfortable walking pace. You can get a longer 10 hour tour, but as you only have 2 days, the shorter tour would be well worth doing and I would suggest that you do it on your first day, as it would make the rest of your stay more interesting with the knowledge that you pick up. When tour is complete, you leave the guide a tip, at your discretion - there was 7 of us on the tour and we were so pleased that we each gave 10 to our guide, who was excellent, but others gave only a couple of euro. Even if you don%26#39;t take that tour, make sure you get to the location of Checkpoint Charlie (Stadmitte U Bahn)and give yourself an hour or two to read about the history of the Berlin wall that is recorded on hoardings around the streets there - very informative.

In answer to a previous post, we%26#39;ll be staying in Friedrichshain.
