Arcotel, Mecure,Arcadia or Furst Bismarck

Hi,

I would love your opinions on hotels please.

I am going to be in Hamburg with a 3 month old baby so want a fairly good 3* hotel as may be in the room quite a lot.

Originally I settled for Furst Bismarck residence but have since seen the Arcotel Rubin, Arcadia and the Mecure which are all 4* rather than 3* but I don%26#39;t get breakfast included.

We love drinking in the old town areas of cities and I also would like to be able to push the pram around the lake.

What do you recommend? Any of these or is there somewhere better? I want to stick to under 100 a night.

Thanks

Hi,

all hotels you chose so far are in not so pleasant areas with quite a lot of traffic and hardly any nice shops, restaurants, etc but more office builidings and/or rather run-down houses. Not really the right surrounding for strolling around with a pram. You wuold be able to reach the Alster lakes of course but it would take you between 20 to 30 minutes to get there and the way is not really nice either. Just lot%26#39;s of traffic lights etc. and I assume that the way to the Alster itself should already be enjoyable as well, right?

Have a look at the following hotels on www.hamburg-tourism.de Select the English language, go to %26#39;search and booking%26#39; and go to %26#39;Hotel list A-Z%26#39;. You can search for the respecitive hotels there.

Unfortunately, I cannot give you any details about them but at least the area they are in should be what you are looking for and all of them are children-friendly.

- relaxa hotel Bellevue, An der Alster 14

- Alsterblick, Schwanenwik 30

- Hotel Amsterdam, Moorweidenstrasse 34

- Hotel Baseler Hof, Esplanade 11

- Hotel Fresena (Dammtorpalais), Moorweidenstrasse 34

- Bellmoor (Dammtorpalais), Moorweidenstrasse 34

- Hamburg Marriott, ABC-Strasse 52

- Renaissance Hotel, Grosse Bleichen

Please note, that there is not much left of the old town area in Hamburg. Most of it was destroyed in a great fire in 1842 and some more was destroyed during the Second World War. There are of course some nice old houses and streets left but not as present as in other towns.

Have a look at a map and go to Deichstrasse, Cremon and Reimerstwiete. These are parallel streets with really nice old houses near the Harbour. If you would like to have some decent food, you can go to the %26#39;Kartoffelkeller%26#39;. This is a very good restaurant serving potatoe dishes of all kinds in Deichstrasse 21, opening at 5pm.

Also, the Krameramtsstuben with houses from the 17th century are really nice. It%26#39;s a tiny street next to the Michel and more a museum than a normal street but definitely worth a visit. You shouldn%26#39;t miss them!

In Peterstrasse, Neanderstrasse and Baeckerbreitergang, you can see some nice houses from the 18th and 19th century. These streets are also quite close together so that you can walk them easily.

Hi there,

i noticed that you booked already. But for everybody looking for accomodation in the future.

It is always worth calling the people from the tourist information on that website as well since they often have offers on nice hotels. Specially ask for 3 for 2. You only pay two nights but get three. Is worth if you then can upgrade to a nicer hotel. They also have family packages for people with kids.

Have a great time in Hamburg.
