Wolfsburg in June

We are taking our children to Wolfsburg for a couple of nights in June. We fly into Frankfurt on a Lufthansa flight and are intending to get a train to Wolfsburg.

I have found the www.bahn.de site which is great and seems easy enough to use, however.....I am really confused about a) which platform to book the tickets to and from %26amp; b)what type of fares are available. It seems as though there is some sort of discount system but I am unsure of it.

Also can anyone tell me the difference between 1st and 2nd class on the ICE trains? We will be arriving with a couple of very tired kids and wonder if it is worth spending the extra.

Any suggestions on family friendly B%26amp;B type accommodation in Wolfburgs would be greatfully recieved too.

Many thanks

a) which platform to book the tickets to and from

Don%26#39;t get it really.

You book tickets from station A to B. Which platforms in the stations will be used is beyond your influence.

DB timetable

http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

From: FRA airport

To: Wolfsburg

b)what type of fares are available. It seems as though there is some sort of discount system but I am unsure of it.

You can book at max 89 days in advance. Than the DB timetable will also show fares.

Children under 6 are generally free.

I. normal tickets

Are flexible. And have the advantage that children under 15 will be free if traveling with a parent.

II. specials

Will start from EUR 29 per person. But only valid for the booked connection. Which is some risk if your plane arrives late.

III. Rail%26amp;Fly

These are tickets you buy from your airline (if partner of the Rail%26amp;Fly program)

bahn.de/international/rail_fly.shtml

A bit more expensive than II but more flexible. They are good on arrival day and day after.

%26gt; Also can anyone tell me the difference between 1st and 2nd class on the ICE trains? We will be arriving with a couple of very tired kids and wonder if it is worth spending the extra.

No. Tired kids won%26#39;t need leather seats and an on-place service for beverages and snacks. And also 2nd class is space compared to a plane.

Thanks for your info. I think that I was having problems with the train booking because it is too far in advance as you mentioned.
